The new concept, Bar Louise, will be housed in a nearby space on Seventh Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets. Owner Allison Areval said the team is trying to create a “retro American feel” while offering cocktails and wines, as well as small plates such as oysters, hot crab dip, crostini and meatballs. It will also offer “great happy hour deals” and discounts for teachers and medical workers since it is located near Methodist Hospital.

The team describes the new concept as “a dimly lit place to unwind, go on a first date, chat for hours with that friend you haven’t seen in years, or vent about work with your co-worker at happy hour.” It will also have a cozy backyard with a “beachy, bohemian vibe” that will “make it hard to leave.”

“It will be a cocktail bar in a neighborhood that sorely needs a cocktail bar!” the team writes on their Instagram.

It will boast “fancy cocktails, natural wines, lite bites” and is “sophisticated, yet welcoming” and “adult, but light-hearted and unpretentious.”

The team tapped contractors Joe Luca Home Improvement and graphic designer Caroline Ward to create their new venture.

Their flagship concept, Pasta Louise, debuted in 2020 before it expanded to a larger space down the street in 2021. Allison is a chef and restaurateur who moved back to Brooklyn after living in Oakland, California, for over a decade, where she owned a mac and cheese restaurant.

She returned to her home state after losing her sister, Lenore, to cancer to be closer to her family. The brand’s logo is a photograph of her grandmother, Louise, who taught her how to cook.

The community restaurant is also committed to giving back to its people and is involved in various charity causes and scholarship programs.
