Fushimi is a popular NYC Asian Fusion restaurant founded in Williamsburg that is known for serving up quality sushi as well as its wild and eclectic design. Fusing together Japanese food with French inspired nouvelle cuisines, Fushimi employs talented chefs with decades of experience in order to create a culinary experience that simply cannot be topped.

Highly recommended by both the Zagat Survey as well as the Michelin Guide, Fushimi has earned an incredibly loyal fanbase thanks to their dedication to customer service. Originally founded in Staten Island, the restaurant slowly expanded as word of its quality got out, first to Bay Ridge and then again to Williamsburg. It was in Williamsburg though where the brand truly began to make its mark. Competing with some of the hippest restaurant concepts to arrive in new York, Fushimi brought on Horst Design International to design an interior that would truly wow customers.

With such an impressive design company supporting the restaurants, guests quickly fell in love with the concept’s dazzling décor. Featuring rods of bamboo, a backlit and translucent sushi bar, and plenty of Asian-inspired touches, the Williamsburg space is perhaps best known for its iconic “tunnel of love” – a circular passageway made with mirror-aluminum sheeting and recessed LED strips that creates the illusion of an eternal tunnel of light. Fusing together a top-of-the-line culinary experience and a dynamic, inventive atmosphere, Fushimi has quickly established itself as one of the city’s hottest Asian fusion restaurants.

Now, the popular restaurant will be stepping into even bigger shoes as the team plots their latest expansion. For their first ever Manhattan expansion, Fushimi will be opening up blocks away from 311 West 43rd Street. The location was formerly home to Hakkasan, the Michelin-starred Chinese concept from Wagamama’s Alan Yao. As a highly elevated fine-dining restaurant, the space is well-suited to meet Fushimi’s creative needs.

With a max capacity of 300 guests, the space is big enough to rival Fushimi’s flagship Williamsburg operation. For the new location, Fushimi will serve their typical fare of sushi rolls, sashimi, teriyaki, and steak. The real star of the show though will be the design, which fans have been eagerly anticipating news of, as no two Fushimi restaurants are exactly alike. Naturally, it will take some time for the Fushimi team to develop their latest expansion, but you can follow the restaurant on Instagram for updates on every step of the process.
