Appas Pizza is the latest concept to arrive from celebrated owner Linda Wang. Wang was the principal behind some of the neighborhood’s favorite sushi restaurants, including Shinn East, and Ume. In fact, last October we broke the news that Linda would be developing a brand new sushi restaurant for East Seventh street, and now that Thirteen Water is open to the public, people can’t get enough of it!

Now though, Linda is currently getting ready to launch a brand new concept tentatively titled Appas Pizza. While details are still very scarce at the moment, the new restaurant is expected to serve “Pizza and fried chicken”, and is expected to open up at 210 First Avenue, replacing Kikoo, which previously occupied the space. Kikoo was a popular sushi restaurant that offered a wide array of high quality Japanese dishes. Thankfully, Kikoo did not shut down for good, and simply moved further down the avenue, where they are still successfully operating today.

The location at 210 First Avenue offers a total 1,200 square feet of space, and had been on the market for six months before being secured earlier in September. The location is expected to seat a total of 20 guests inside at one time, and will not feature any bars, as the restaurant is described as “limited capacity” and “food focused, not alcohol focused.”

While Appas Pizza is envisioned primarily as a food-focused concept, Linda Wang is still looking to acquire a liquor license for the space and is currently getting ready to meet with the community board to begin that process. She is proposing operating hours of 12:00 PM – 11:30 PM every day, seven days a week, and is also looking for approval for a happy hour that will end by 9:00 PM. Unfortunately, the team is still too early into development to offer further details at this time, so you will just need to stay on alert until they have launched the restaurant’s proper social media channels.
