While we may all be reeling from Punxsutawney Phil’s devastating forecast yesterday, we must persevere in spite of ourselves. Six more weeks of winter will be fine, so long as we keep the memories of summer alive. Thankfully, one of Montauk’s most popular summer restaurants is planning its first ever Manhattan expansion.
There are few pleasures for New Yorkers like summer in Long Island. The sun, the fresh fish, the boating trips – nothing says summer in New York like a trip out to Montauk. If you’ve been to Montauk since 2019, you’ve likely encountered TT’s, a Tex-Mex restaurant founded by Tony Pytleski, Eric Eim, John Garrett-Young, Gary Costello, and Ethan Fischbein.
Established in 2019, TT’s is one of Montauk’s most popular spots for Mexican-inspired bites and waterside drinks. Located at the very tip of Long Island, TT’s offers gorgeous bayside views and has become synonymous with summer trips to the neighborhood. Now, while the Montauk location is temporarily closed for the season, it appears that Tony Pytleski is planning on expanding his popular concept to a brand new location – Manhattan.
According to a recent liquor license application, TT’s has just secured the lease for a brand new restaurant at 24 First Avenue. As their first expansion to date, the new location is a major change for the brand. Expected to offer a similar menu to their Montauk location, TT’s is known for serving tex-mex standards like chicken tenga, carne asada, Baja fish tacos, and chorizo alongside American burgers and sweets.
TT’s will be moving into a new development that is replacing a building that was demolished in 2019. Currently in the process of applying for a liquor license, further details are still on hold until the license is secure. While TT’s Montauk location is closed for the season, it is expected to reopen in the summer and you can follow them on Instagram for further updates.
