Kyle Martino is well known as a professional soccer player and television host. He spent seven seasons as a midfielder with the Columbus Crew and the LA Galaxy before retiring in 2008 on the advice of his doctors. Since then, he began working for NBC Sports as a studio analyst and color commentator, and has hosted numerous other television shows. In 2017, he left NBC Sports to run for president of the US Soccer Federation in a grassroots campaign to bring greater accountability and transparency to the organization.

Kyle is also known by many in New York as a generous philanthropist, having founded The Over Under Initiative in order to help improve the health and wellness of kids by increasing access to sport in urban neighborhoods. The Over Under Initiative seeks to give more local places to play by converting traditional blacktop courts into dynamic, multi-sport surfaces. Martino partnered with a top sports equipment engineer to design Goalpher, a specialized soccer goal that stores quickly and easily into the surface under a hoop. The innovative design enables blacktop basketball courts to be effortlessly transformed into soccer fields, and vice versa, substantially increasing the potential play options for kids in public spaces and inviting brand new audiences to enjoy the sport he fell so much in love with.

Now, it appears that Kyle is getting ready to debut a brand new restaurant concept as well. According to a recently filed liquor license application, Kyle is preparing to open a new restaurant on 141 Chrystie Street called No One Home. The concept is described as a “soccer themed American Bistro with a European Twist,” and occupies a rather spacious location that will seat about 104 guests at one time. He also intends to acquire a full liquor license for No One Home and is proposing operating hours of 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM, every day, seven days a week.

While the food is described as having a European twist, Kyle has yet to outline any specific details for the menu. What Now NY reached out to Mr. Martino but he declined to comment, noting that he is still too early into development to share further details at this time. He hopes to share further information in a few weeks when more details have been finalized. For more information and future updates, you can follow Kyle on Instagram.
