Virginia’s is a popular New-American restaurant from Owner Reed Adelson. The restaurant was established in 2015 at 647 East 11th Street but sadly closed at the end of December 2021. The restaurant earned many accolades from critics and was especially popular for its signature burger. Reed is a well-established restaurant veteran with years of experience working at recognizable spots like Charlie Trotter’s and Robert De Niro’s Locanda Verde. When he launched Virginia’s in 2015 (named after his mother), he quickly attracted plenty of buzz thanks to the quality of Virginia’s food and service.

For the past year, fans of Virginia’s have been left aimless, wondering when or if their favorite restaurant would ever return. Thankfully, some good news is on its way to Virginia’s patient loyalists. According to a recent announcement on Instagram. Virginia’s will be opening up in a brand new location in Fall 2022 at 200 East Third Street. The space was previously home to the popular restaurant Root & Bone. The new location will be able to seat about 52 guests inside at one time, with additional seating planned for the bar and counter.

For the menu, Virginia’s will be serving the same New American style that so many guests have come to love, including their famous Virginia’s burger with Cabot cheddar and Vidalia onion marmalade. Virginia’s also offers a wide array of small plates and sides, and additional entrees like mushroom risotto, wild king salmon, scallops, and NY strip steak. Reed and the team have also prepared a robust beverage program with a diverse selection of cocktails, wine, and beer, as well as a delectable brunch menu.

Currently, Reed and the team are in the process of acquiring a full liquor license for their new location, and are proposing operating hours of 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 AM – 12:00 AM Friday through Sunday. Many Virginia’s fans have already showed their support for the reopening, sending in letters to the community board detailing their positive experiences with Virginia’s former location. The team has already put together a well-detailed soundproofing and traffic management plan for the space, which should make their acquisition of the new license that much smoother. The new space is tentatively expected to open in Fall 2022, and you can follow Virginia’s on Instagram for more information as their progress continues.

[Editor’s note: Christian Ramos was erroneously listed as a co-owner in an earlier version of this article. Ramos was an opening chef when the restaurant first opened in 2015.]
