A new “intimate wine bar with an added educational component” focused on offering a “diverse” selection is slated to take over the space formerly occupied by the French wine bar Le Pif 465 West 23rd Street in West Chelsea.

Wife-and-husband duo Jorje Murillo and Karlla Albertini have submitted an application to acquire the space formerly occupied by the French wine bar that closed in 2021. Their yet-to-be-named wine bar is slated to offer “a variety of small plates, charcuterie boards, cheese boards, regionally styled sandwiches, flatbreads and desserts.” 

Its proposed menu including in its liquor license application includes small nibbles ranging from bread and artisanal butter to a dried fruit pairing plate for $8-$12, salads such as a kale and romaine salad with apple, parmesan crisps, parmesan shaves and caesar dressing for $15-$17, costrinis for $14-$16, savory hot paninis and baguettes such as a Cordon Blue and El Matador for $18-$20, mini paninis for $12, sweet treats like macarons for $10, and an wide array of of charcuterie and cheese boards for $42-$84, as well as a comprehensive wine and champagne selection.

The restaurant is slated to offer 16 tables with 44 seats and one bar with 10 seats. If approved, it will also offer sidewalk seating during weather appropriate seasons. Its slated hours are 3 pm to 11 pm from Sunday through Thursday and 3 pm to midnight on Friday and Saturday. 

Murillo and Albertini are a Latino couple in their mid-forties who have lived in Manhattan for almost 20 years. 

He is Mexican-American with a Ph.D. in Finances and Economics from Columbia University with a “deep interest in wine,” later obtaining a masters in wine. She is a Brazilian-American attorney with a degree in Hotel Management and Business Administration from “top Brazil schools.”
