Owned and operated by Grey Lady pioneer Ryan Chadwick, Rendezvous is planned to open up at 109 Ludlow Street as soon as all licenses are approved. Ryan previously operated The Canary Club as well as Grey Lady with his partners Callum and Gavin McLaughlin.

Canary Club is a Caribbean-inspired restaurant, cocktail lounge and live-music club that currently operates at 303 Broome Street. Grey Lady meanwhile describes itself as “an addictive marriage between a classic seafood shack and hip full service dining experience,” combining casual sea food options with at atmosphere of elegance and dignity.

Ryan and the team filed the application for the new location back in June, and have encountered some delays in the approval process. The state of New York is still determining whether the proposal submitted by the team reaches the city’s standards for noise pollution and accessibility. While Ryan is confident that their plan meets every possible standard, applications like this take a long time. For the moment, Ryan is keeping Rendezvous on the backburner and focusing on other projects while he waits to hear back for approval.

If approved, Rendezvous would be replacing Tsaocaa & Bao, a popular Korean restaurant that specialized in Boba Tea and Bao Buns. Tsaocaa & Bao was forced to close earlier this year due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, but the original Tsaocaa remains open in Brooklyn. While you wait for further news about the future of Rendezvous, consider checking out one of Ryan’s other restaurants to get a sense of the new space. In the meantime, your loyal sentinels at What Now New York will remain vigilant, scouting out the latest in breaking restaurant news and bringing it right where it belongs.
