The concept will be owned and operated by Scott, Nydia, and Daniel Gaynor, the last of whom served as the music manager for Casa Cipriani – a posh private members-only restaurant club located in the iconic century-old Beaux Arts-style Battery Maritime Building – under Bruce Harris, where he would oversee the musicians and attend to all sound-related matters. He also worked as a server, cook and manager at an Italian restaurant called Il Moro in Hong Kong. Close Up will offer nightly jazz performances over a Latin fare.

The club intends to use social media and word of mouth to promote their events, and it will join only a select few other jazz clubs in the neighborhood including Canary Club.

It is slated to offer 16 tables with 59 table seats and 6 counter seats, as well as one service bar, with anticipated hours of operation of 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, and 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. from Thursday through Saturday. It will be closed on Tuesdays.

Its proposed menu includes Latin items such as mini cachapitas, mini fusion-style arepitas, mini corn empanadas, tequeños, mini tostones playeros and yuca fries.
