Tengda was founded in 2006 in Katonah New York by Sammie Liew and her husband George Li. Sammie owns and manages the business side of the restaurant, while George runs the kitchen as Head Chef. Together, the two have earned their restaurant numerous awards for their dedication, leadership, and excellence in the culinary arts.

Founded as a pan-Asian bistro, Tengda offers a unique perspective on flavors from around the continent, including countries like Japan, China, Malaysia, and Viet Nam. Earning a Zagat rating every year since 2006, Tengda serves a wide assortment of soups, salads, sushi, hot plates, ribs, bowls, fried rice, and specials. With such an eclectic menu, Tengda is guaranteed to have something for everyone no matter what their taste might be. Thanks to George’s highly praised kitchen leadership, Tengda has opened up two more locations in Fairfield and Greenwich, Connecticut.

Now, the popular bistro is getting ready for their first Manhattan move. Opening up at the Chai building at 241-245 West 54th Street, Tengda will be replacing Pepper Lunch. Pepper Lunch is a popular Japanese “fast-steak” restaurant that combined the best features of fast-food with the luxury of a steak house. Sadly, the Pepper Lunch in the Chai building was the last New York location, you’ll have to go to Texas for the nearest one now.

Thankfully, Tengda is an exciting new prospect that will bring an abundance of new life into the space. Expected to open by the end of December, visit their website for the hours of their other locations if you’d like to give them a try.
