A new burger joint is opening up in Chelsea that claims to serve the best smash burgers in New York.
Smashed is a popular new burger restaurant from owner Mark Mendaros. Established in 2021 on the Lower East Side, Smashed quickly earned positive reviews and word of Smashed’s quality soon began spreading throughout the city. Mark promises that Smashed offers the best smash burgers that can be found in the city, and is more than willing to argue with you if you disagree. Most recently, Smashed joined the Gotham Market at Ashland at 590 Fulton Street, where Mark opened up Smash’s first-ever expansion.
Now, Mark is once again gearing up to expand and is planning on taking his popular burgers over to Chelsea. Smashed’s latest expansion will be found at 600 11th Avenue, where it will be joining the many vendors currently established at Gotham Market West. The new expansion will enable Smashed to offer guests a full menu and sit-down service experience, as well as cocktails, wine, and beer.
Operating on the first floor of the market, Mark’s current floorplan indicates that the space will be able to seat about 84 guests inside at once. Additionally, Mark is also proposing an outdoor space for the new location that should add room for another 32 seats. For the menu, Smashed will serve its traditional offerings of hand-crafted smash burgers, fries, shakes, and alternative vegan options. Mark describes Smashed as a family friendly establishment, and hopes to offer after school specials and unique catering opportunities to help serve the local community.
For the new space, Mark hopes to offer beer, wine, and cocktails for the first time in Smashed’s history. He is currently proposing operating hours of 11:00 AM – 1:00 AM every day, but the details could still change pending the board’s approval.
