While southerners may be under the impression that quality barbecue can’t be found in New York, New Yorkers only have one thing to say about that: Bless your heart!
One of the most successful barbecue restaurants to ever come out of Brooklyn, Mighty Quinn’s, will soon be returning home to roost. As part of a five-part deal with the beloved barbecue franchise, franchisees Matthew Kouskalis and Nick Galanis will be opening two brand new Mighty Quinn’s locations in Brooklyn by the end of 2022.
The first location will be opening up at 360 Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg. Presently occupied by vacant office space on the corner of Wythe and South Third Street, 360 Wythe is the first New York city brick-and-beam building constructed in nearly a century, evoking the lost industrial aesthetic of a bygone New York. The second location will be opening up in Downtown Brooklyn at One Boerum Place. Conveniently located in a new luxury rental development, the second Mighty Quinn’s location will be anchored by an additional 22,000 square feet of retail space on the first two floors. In addition, the Williamsburg location will also feature a full bar with a unique menu of craft cocktails.
According to Kouskalis, the Brooklyn neighborhoods are ideal for the brand. Describing his team as “very engaged with the community,” Kouskalis expressed his vision for the new restaurants as “hubs for their neighborhoods, where friends and neighbors can gather or even host events.” Looking forward to bringing the Brooklyn community together, Kouskalis and Galanis are thrilled to be opening these locations in such unique neighborhoods.
Originally founded in Williamsburg in 2011 as part of the Smorgasburg project, Mighty Quinn’s has evolved from a humble indie purveyor of smoked meats to the BBQ titan of New York. With new restaurants growing across Manhattan, Garden City, Forest Hills, Union, and even in Florida and Maryland, Mighty Quinn’s is teaching the country just how exactly New Yorkers do barbecue.
