Mezcal and Amaro is a brand new concept that will be moving into the space at 337B West Broadway. Owned by entrepreneurs Harrison Greene, Henry Heeney, and Sean Pi, Mezcal and Amaro is a promising new bar concept that puts sustainability at the front of the conversation.
Featuring over 1070 square feet of space for dining, Mezcal and Amaro is described as “a black-owned jewel box focused on providing sustainable, organic, and fair trade coffee, wine, spirits and food.” As a hyper-local business, Harrison’s new bar will be sure to feature art and goods from community artists and artisans. Striving to be “the archetype for socially-responsible hospitality,” Mezcal and Amara is particularly focused on creating equity within the community by offering local artists exhibition space and by providing all employees with a clearly defined path to equity ownership in the bar itself.
Moving into the space at 337B West Broadway, Mezcal and Amaro will be replacing Sanctuary T. A popular retail space and tea shop, Sanctuary T operated on West Broadway from 2007 until 2019. Thankfully, Harrison Greene is well educated on spirits and cocktails, having had his expertise on mezcal featured in a spy.com article earlier this year, and is well positioned to turn the space into one of New York’s hottest cocktail bars.
Mezcal and Amaro is expected to be open daily, from 7AM – 2AM on Sunday through Monday, and 7AM – 4AM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Featuring light musical entertainment in the background, the bar will also serve light “European-inspired small plates” alongside its ample selection of fair trade-coffee and spirits. With such a strong focus on local sustainability, Mezcal and Amaro will definitely be worth checking out when it opens next year.
