Golden Age Hospitality and Paradise Projects is opening a new restaurant called Elvis. A press release shared with What Now NY describes Elvis as “a sophisticated Parisian-style wine bar.”
The outside of Elvis has been painted orange, a nod to the theme of the restaurants that came before it. The design of Elvis includes red tiling to give the space a Mediterranean flare. Only 30 people can be seated at a time, giving the restaurant a cozy ambiance. Elvis plans to operate a sidewalk cafe when it’s warm outside.
Golden Age Hospitality’s Executive Chef Nicole Gajadhar has created the menu for Elvis that features homemade charcuteries,pâtés, duck and salmon rillettes,steak tartare, and more.
“We are incredibly excited to add another venue to the Noho community,” said Golden Age Hospitality’s founder Jon Neidich in the press release. “During the construction of ACME almost 13 years ago, Great Jones Cafe was a go-to. I spent many an afternoon sneaking away for a moment of peace and a beer at the storied bar. One of my partners at Elvis, Eric Kruvant, used to live above Great Jones Cafe, and this place remains deeply etched in our memories. We are super excited to revive it with fresh energy, paying homage to its cherished history.”
EV Grieve notes that this space was previously occupied by Great Jones Cafe, which paid tribute to Elvis with a sculpture of him peeking out of one of the windows.
The statue itself has quite a storied history. According to an Instagram post from Jolene, one of the former occupants of the space, the bust of Elvis has been handed down from one tenant to the next over the course of 3 decades.
In 2021, the statue was stolen from 54 Great Jones St. An uproar ensued on social media with not only the owners, but the community banding together to ensure that their property was returned and the building’s history honored.
Elvis’ Instagram page indicates the business is planning on a Fall 2024 opening.
The restaurant will be open Sunday through Wednesday, 4pm – 12am and Thursday through Saturday, 12pm – 1am.
