Named after the lean and tender fish meat considered a delicacy in Asia, Fish Cheeks has been serving its seafood specialities to the NoHo neighborhood for over seven years. The family-style restaurant takes a “modern approach to traditional Thai dishes” from the country’s coastal cities to create a menu that is “flavorful, complex and approachable” while also adding an “unapologetic heat to every dish.”

“BK, here we come!” the team wrote on Instagram. “We’ve been working so tirelessly to find the perfect location to call our second home, and we finally found it and can’t wait to share meals with you all next summer 2024!”

Fish Cheeks offers a wide array of Thai fare, from crab fried rice to grilled fish, and boasts a robust beverage program, including cocktails, wines and non-alcoholic drinks like Thai iced teas and coffee.

The restaurant has received high-ratings from top critics, earning the title of the best Thai restaurant in the city from The Infatuation, as well as a spot on top Thai restaurants in New York City lists by Eater and Time Out. It also got a glowing two-star review from The Times’ food critic Pete Wells.

“Fish Cheeks is a deeply personal concept that celebrates the team’s cultural heritage and the culinary artistry found in Bangkok and beyond,” the team wrote on their website.

“Brought together by their shared desire to bring traditional Thai cuisine to New York City, the team decided to open Fish Cheeks, offering a menu that highlights the unfiltered flavors they craved from their upbringing in Thailand and re-creates the type of convivial and communal-style dining found across the country.”

While the restaurant will be new to the neighborhood, its co-owner and executive chef Ohm Suansilphong has been stationed in Williamsburg for over a year to open another Thai concept, KRU, with his wife. It has since earned recognition in the Michelin Guide and was a semi-finalist for James Beards’ Best New Restaurant.

Ohm started Fish Cheeks with his brother Chat and pals Jennifer Saesue and Pranwalai Kittirattanawiwat. Jennifer and Chat also debuted Bangkok Supper Club in the West Village last year.
