Mikado Sushi is a popular Japanese restaurant and bistro that places a special emphasis on sushi and rolls. Established at 526 6th Avenue, Mikado prepares every dish with ingredients that are made fresh daily, and thrives in delivering quality food to all of their customers. The restaurant offers everything from bento boxes to noodles, curry rice, deep fried options, and of course sushi and sashimi.

Now, Mikado owner Guimin Li has acquired the lease to a brand new space in order to expand the concept. Mikado’s next outpost will be opening up at 109 West 14th Street in Chelsea. The new expansion will be replacing the recently shuttered Good Stuff Diner. One of New York’s few remaining 24/7 diners, Good Stuff Diner was a midtown institution and was beloved by many for its all-night breakfast options.

The location is rather spacious, and features a max capacity of 100 guests. Mikado will operate on the first floor of the building and will use the basement level for storage. The space will also feature a 14 seat sushi bar in the front.

The new Mikado will serve the same traditional Japanese fare that so many fans have come to love, with a unique emphasis on sushi. Kitchen entrees include items like udon and soba, don buri, fried rice, and light appetizers and soups and salads. The real star of the show however will be the fish, and Mikado has prepared an incredibly robust selection of sushi, sashimi, and roll options for guests to savor and enjoy. For special occasions (or for particularly hungry guests), Mikado will also offer its famous party train, offering 10 delicious rolls all on one plate for an inviting group dining experience.

Mikado will also be acquiring a wine, beer, and cider license in order to help elevate their offerings. This will be a first for Mikado, as their previous location did not serve any alcohol at all. For the new space, Mikado is proposing operating hours of 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM every day, seven days a week. Their sixth avenue location remains open for business, so readers are encouraged to give the space a visit or to follow Mikado on Instagram for future updates regarding their new expansion.
