With its original location in Brooklyn and a second in Times Square, Mia’s Bakery has become a familiar spot for New Yorkers and tourists alike. Guests to the bakeries can peruse display cases stocked full of beautifully iced cakes and golden-brown pies. It can be a challenge to narrow down an order to just one or two sweet treats here; but with a new location coming soon to the Upper East Side, it will soon be easier than ever to pick up some cake pops or cupcakes for your next special occasion.

What Now NY connected with Paris Asprou, one of the co-owners of Mia’s Bakery, over an email Q&A to learn more about the brand and this new location.

“Mia’s Bakery was opened in 2015 with a mission to provide quality baked goods to the neighborhood and to provide a large selection of different products in different varieties so anyone can enjoy. We have become well known and well liked for our cakes, cheesecakes, pies, cupcakes, vegan and gluten free options and many more!”

Reporting on Patch.com reveals that signs went up recently at this new location.

“We have 10 showcases with all different types of desserts,” Asprou explained. “During holidays such as Thanksgiving we sell thousands of pies. Our goal is always to provide great customer service, along with great desserts! Our Brooklyn location has seating, so we have a café vibe also. Our Times Square location is a to-go only store, but our Upper East location will be similar to Brooklyn with seating if customers want to sit down and have a slice of cake and a coffee!”

Mia’s Bakery has three locations in Massachusetts as well. This new New York City location will be the third in the city, creating an even split between the bakery’s presence between the two states.

“We believe the UES is a great neighborhood– there are lots of people, families, schools and businesses, and we want to provide the community with our service and desserts,” said Asprou. “We believe they will enjoy them. The UES is one of the best neighborhoods in NYC and lots of “foodies” on social media also love visiting UES restaurants as well. UES’s close proximity to other areas of Manhattan, UWS, Harlem, Midtown etc also makes it a great location to come by and have some baked goods. In Brooklyn we do have a lot of customers who come from Manhattan and the Bronx, and they are excited that we are opening there also.”

Asprou anticipates there will be around 35 to 40 seats in this new location.

“Our store will have a kitchen, and everything will be baked on premises,” said Asprou. “We will have 10 showcases filled with amazing varieties of desserts. We changed our look compared to the Brooklyn store, with a modern, industrial type look.”

Mia’s Bakery on the Upper East Side is aiming to open between August 15 and August 25.
