Opening on Monday, May 13 at 473 Amsterdam Avenue, the store is the latest move from Chef Salvo, who’s cooked for Hollywood celebrities, popes, and politicians through his private dining and catering services. CASASALVO will offer a variety of coffee and espresso beverages, all priced at $2.50 per cup, and specialty Italian food products including cheeses and meats, extra virgin olive oils and vinegar, Italian beverages and sweets, inviting visitors to experience an authentic taste of Italy.

CASASALVO’s espresso bar will feature the classics of espresso and cappuccino but will also offer new Italian selections like caffè with pistachio, hazelnut, or truffles, all for $2.50. CASASALVO will serve an exclusive private-label blend of Dokito coffee, an espresso producer located near Rome. Customers can also savor their beverages with freshly baked cornetti – Italian croissants – and enjoy the café ambiance at small bistro tables outside.

New Yorkers can grab their specialty items at CASASALVO, where the walls will be lined with shelves of affordable, Italian pantry staples, including the first boutique in the U.S. of award-winning De Nigris vinegar, organic pasta, Italian tomato sauces, burrata and mozzarella, artisanal prosciutto and other meats, Parmigiano-Reggiano mousse, hand-crafted butter and yogurts, and much more. Italian Coca-Cola and other soft drinks, and bottled coffee will also be available to grab and go.

“I am very excited to make gourmet coffee and specialty foods accessible to everyone in New York City where customers can experience the true essence of Italian flavors,” said Salvo Lo Castro, owner of Casa Salvo NYC in a statement. “CASASALVO will be home for those who want to connect over the values of good food, eating well, and living these moments with joy, and I look forward to sharing my passion for Mediterranean cuisine and culture with our customers.”

The main vision of CASASALVO is to create an atmosphere that encourages sharing and discovery, where each dish tells a story, each aroma evokes a memory, and each taste offers a glimpse into distant Mediterranean landscapes. With the opening of CASASALVO, Chef Lo Castro aims to further his mission of making Italian cuisine accessible to everyone from espresso to groceries.

With over 28 years of extensive experience related to 5-star hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and catering, Chef Salvo Lo Castro manages the CASASALVO project with ambition and enthusiasm, supported by a brilliant team. They have made the concept of gourmet catering their own, putting attention and experience into customer service every day.

CASASALVO is located at 473 Amsterdam Avenue between 82nd and 83rd Street, across the street from Song’E Napule Pizzeria & Trattoria, and open: Sunday – Monday 8:00a.m. to 8:00p.m.
