The Kimpton Hotel Theta is now open in NYC and is managed by Highgate. The reimagined 364-room lifestyle hotel was completely redesigned to blend its modernism roots with high design. The 15-floor hotel is set in the nexus of Hell’s Kitchen and Times Square.
“New York City is known for its electrifying environment, so we’re excited to partner with Kimpton in offering a space for both leisure and business guests to recharge and reset while in close proximity to the city’s main hubs and attractions,” says the hotel’s General Manager, Mark Pandaleon in a statement. “Kimpton Hotel Theta has a sense of retreat that permeates every corner, allowing warmth and familiarity to envelope guests and curate an ultra-personalized experience.”
The Theta name is derived from the eighth letter of the Greek alphabet, a tie to the hotel’s 8th Avenue location. Celebrating its existing architecture by Morris Lapidus, the architect synonymous with buildings found throughout Miami Beach. Overseen by LUCID, Highgate’s in-house Design & Construction Studio, and designed by Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary design firm, CRÈME/Jun Aizaki Architecture & Design, the reimagination of the spaces feature asymmetric details, gentle layering and rich textures. Art and history are intertwined throughout to develop an approachable and inviting gathering place where culture and community connect.
Complementing Lapidus’ work, the new living room lobby features Isamu Noguchi-inspired sculptural forms that act as portals between spaces, celebrating the existing architecture with an elevated arrival experience. A plush mix of seating creates a collaborative communal area as well as intimate nooks filled with art, books, and botanical design to provide a cozy, residential-like feel. Spacious guestrooms and suites, oversized for New York City standards, feature warm wood tones and soothing color accents as well as curated playlists designed to evoke serenity.
Luxe in-room amenities include bespoke Atelier Bloem bath products, soft Kassatex linen robes, and complimentary yoga mats upon request. Select suites feature spacious parlors, a living area, and entertainment space.
