Kamasu, Kissaki Hospitality Group’s newest sushi concept, opened on January 17, 2024 in FiDi. Kamasu focuses on approachable open faced sets of Temaki handrolls in a variety of specialty options in addition to a menu of Maki, specialty Futomaki and Donburi in a casual atmosphere. Kamasu also has locations in Hudson Yards, at Time Out Market in DUMBO.

The new John Street location will feature BellaBot, a state-of-the-art robot that will assist in running dishes to and from tables to provide a futuristic element to the Kamasu dining experience. Kissaki Hospitality Group owner Garry Kanfer is the force behind Kamasu and Kissaki, which opened its first location in January 2020 on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Due to its popularity, Kissaki expanded to open additional locations on the Upper West Side, in Greenwich, CT, Manhasset, Long Island and Miami.

Executive Chef Edgar Valerio draws from his passion to cultivate a culinary experience where everyone feels at home. Kissaki and now Kamasu is the next step in Chef Edgar’s culinary evolution. This commitment to excellence is the reason why every Kamasu has the highest standard of service, knowledge and hospitality.

Kamasu’s menu includes Temaki Hand Roll Sets, showcasing in sets of 3-7, featuring delicacies like Kanpachi, Striped Bass, Salmon, and more. The a la carte menu offers an assortment of sushi, including Mushroom, Inure, Sake, Kampachi, Spicy Scallop, Fluke, Akami and Toro. Appetizers like Spicy Cucumber Salad and Kani Avocado Salad are available in addition to a variety of Maki Rolls and entrees such as Vegetarian, Guidon, Tuna Avocado and Salmon Donburi Bowls.

Sake is offered dry and sweet and is specifically curated to complement the food menu. The wine list pairs with the Temaki Sets, and diners can choose from refreshing Soju flavors like Honey Melon or Asian Pear. Japanese beer and non-alcoholic beverages including Yuzu Soda and an Ume Plum Soda are also available.

Garry Kanfer is the founder of Big Drop, a full-service digital agency, servicing Fortune 500 clients across the company’s three locations. Known for building brands and designing world-class digital experiences, Big Drop was integral to the creation of the Kissaki brand. As a self-described “sushi addict”, launching a one-of-a-kind omakase experience was the natural next step for Kanfer. When COVID-19 hit NYC, Kanfer spearheaded Kissaki’s overnight transformation to a rapid production take-out model solely designed to deliver donated meals to New York’s frontline healthcare professionals. He’s now the proud owner of Kissaki, which has five locations and a sixth on the way in Miami and Kamasu with locations in Hudson Yards and Time Out Market.

Kamasu’s space is 2,500 Square Feet and has an indoor dining Capacity to seat 70.
