The sustainability-conscious health chain is opening its 34th city location this week at 670 Columbus Avenue in the Upper West Side. It will also open three new locations at 4 Columbus Circle in Midtown, 2853 Broadway in the Upper West Side and 58 Court Street in Brooklyn Heights by the end of the year, according to Nicole Natoli, a company public relations representative. Co-founders Nick Kenner and Rob Crespi opened its flagship at East 51st Street in Midtown in May 2006. It now operates dozens of locations across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida, as well as the United Arab Emirates.

When it debuted nearly two decades ago, its sustainability focus was a novel concept that separated it from its competitors. Just Salad is best-known for its reusable salad bowl initiative, in which customers can purchase a $1 bowl and earn a free topping with each reuse. The goal of the initiative is to reduce waste.

The chain offers over 15 chef-curated salads such as their crispy chicken poblano, Thai chicken crunch and Tokyo supergreens, wraps such as buffalo chicken and spicy chicken caesar, warm bowls such as chicken fajita and spicy tofu crunch, avocado toast, soups such as chicken noodle and spiced pumpkin bisque, and smoothies such as almond berry blast and detox cleanse. There is also an option to build your own salads and bowls.
