Grayson’s signed franchise agreement with Schmackary’s is the brand’s second multi-unit deal for the New York City area. Founder Zach Schmahl opened the first Schmackary’s in the city’s Theater District in 2012. Over the years, Schmackary’s earned a reputation as the “Official Cookie of Broadway,” setting the stage for its expansion in future years.

“Expanding to multiple locations in Long Island speaks volumes about our legacy in New York City,” said Zach Schmahl in a statement announcing the news of Grayson’s franchise agreement. “We can’t wait to connect with other communities in an impactful way like we have on 45th St.”

In an email interview between What Now NY and Grayson, she confirmed that her six-unit deal with Schmackary’s covers Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Grayson’s first location on Long Island is slated to open later in 2024 as she and her team work to lock down a lease. The additional five locations will be in various stages of development over the next five to six years.

“The demand for Schmackary’s is undeniable, and I’m confident that our presence will resonate strongly in these vibrant communities,” Grayson said. “The combination of unique and delicious cookies that change daily, fantastic ice cream creations including the introduction of the swirl freeze machine, and specialty drinks for coffee lovers will be a huge draw.”

Schmackary’s announced plans to begin franchising in 2023 and has since secured several agreements in New York, New Jersey and Southern California. Grayson’s multi-unit agreement to bring six Schmackary’s to Long Island will strengthen the brand’s presence across New York. As Grayson’s agreement actualizes into new stores, cookie aficionados will have more options than ever before to pick up irresistible cookies with adventurous twists.
