For over 50 years, H&H Bagel has been an integral part of New Yorkers’ mornings. For the same amount of time, H&H Bagels has kept a traditional bagel-making practice alive. The New York-based bagel concept prides itself on having mastered the art of artisan bagels, and recently they began sharing their bagels outside of the Empire State.

H&H Bagel is growing nationwide, including in New York. H&H Bagel opened a location at the LIRR concourse on 34th Street at Seventh Avenue earlier last month. Even in the afterglow of its seventh store opening, H&H Bagel has already signed a lease for another location at 7 Pennsylvania Plaza.

What Now NY connected with a brand representative from H&H Bagels who confirmed the news of the upcoming Penn Plaza location.

“H&H Bagels has become an iconic NYC bagel place thanks to features on shows like Seinfeld, Sex and the City and The Office,” said the representative. “We are now on our 52nd year and expanding to become a nationwide franchise. Currently we have agreements signed for over 50 locations, some of which are franchisee-owned and others of which are corporate owned.”

Later this summer H&H Bagels’ first non-New York locations are opening in Boca Raton, Florida and in Santa Monica, California. With franchisees leading the charge of bringing the brand outside of the Northeast, more people than ever before will be starting their days with H&H Bagels’ water-brushed bagels.

The planned location coming to Penn Plaza will be a corporate-owned location. According to leasing documents reviewed by What Now NY, H&H Bagels has singed a 10-year lease for a 1,423 square-foot section on the ground floor of Penn Plaza.

“We are really excited for the future location at Penn Plaza,” said the representative. “It is going to continue to grow H&H Bagels’ presence in that commuter and office center.”

In the past few week, H&H Bagels launched an app so visitors to any of their locations can pick up bagels without having to wait in like. Particularly in the commuter-heavy spots like Penn Station and Penn Plaza in the near future, H&H Bagels hopes the app will encourage people to order ahead while on the train or in a taxi.

The most popular orders at H&H Bagels are the bacon, egg and cheese bagels followed closely by the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels. As the brand expands, who knows if the fan-favorites will change,

There is no estimate at this time for when the Penn Plaza location will open.
