The Astoria restaurant will be Chiddy’s Cheesesteaks first location within New York City.

Matt Geisperger, the franchisee spear-heading the Astoria expansion, spoke to What Now New York about the draw of the Queens’ neighborhood, saying “It’s very blended and very diverse. It’s only two train stops from Manhattan. Everybody’s there.”

Geisperger states that he’d hoped to have the new Chiddy’s open by now but that leasing issues have delayed the process. However, the lease has been resolved and the restaurant is moving forward. The opening timeline remains indefinite.

Geisperger currently runs a Chiddy’s located in Sunnyside.

The Astoria restaurant will be a full-service restaurant and will feature all of the menu options Chiddy’s customers love.

Chiddy’s began selling cheesesteaks on Long Island eight years ago. The restaurant specializes in Philadelphia-style cheesesteaks. The menu features a wide array of the titular sandwich, ranging from the classic to a vegetarian option. The eatery also sells fries, empanadas, hotdogs, and salads.
