The ice cream shop started as a pop-up in the South Bronx called Tripla Panna before she pivoted to a brick-and-mortar in her native neighborhood of Gramercy Park. She opened its doors in 2019 with the help of her father who is a supremely successful restaurateur behind Shack Shake and Union Square Hospitality Group, which oversees about a dozen high-profile restaurants in the city such as Gramercy Tavern, Manhatta and Union Square Cafe.

Caffè Panna is inspired by her time in Rome working at the gelateria Otaleg and studying at the Rome Sustainable Food Project. She sources the shop’s signature panna, a lightly sweetened cream, from Piemonte, Italy, hence its namesake. It is known for its seven staple flavors, sundaes and speciality affogato desserts.

She also continues to host regular pasta pop-ups called Trattoria Panna.
