What Now NY connected with co-owner Seitzler to get up to speed on the progress of the project.

“Wanye & Sons is a Tex-Mex taqueria. A lot of folks are doing authentic Mexican concepts right now, so we want to do a Texas spin on that, “ said Seitzler. “We will serve crunchy tacos, chili fries, frozen margaritas, cold beer and Tex-Mex staples. This isn’t exactly a sit-down restaurant although we will have some seating and a large outdoor patio. We want to channel the excitement of a big Texas restaurant into a casual but fun taqueria.”

Seitzler explained that a small indoor seating space will have about 10 barstools and the covered patio will have 20 seats. Wayne & sons will have a vintage West Texas vibe. The owners are aiming to create an atmosphere that feels like sitting on your neighbor’s front porch.

“Personally, the East Village is my favorite neighborhood,” Seitzler said. “The history of the East Village in New York blends really well with our concept being a little counter culture. Wayne & Sons will be laid-back, fun and not too serious.”

Wayne & Sons plans to experiment with some custom private label sodas and chips. They have set out with a mission to become the home of the best frozen margarita in the city. Guests can put this to the test in about eight weeks’ time when Wayne & sons is supposed to open.

Notably, there is no one in particular after whom Wayne & Sons is named.

When What Now NY connected with Seitzler, he explained that each of the owners has someone in their life with the name “Wayne”. The name has taken on a kind of universal presence which Seitzler summed up by saying “Everyone has a Wayne”. Maybe your ‘Wayne’ connection will come about when this taqueria becomes your new go-to spot in the neighborhood.
