‘La Pecora Bianca’ translates to ‘The White Sheep’ in Italian. The Mediterranean nation has a long history of sheep farming, so the name is a nod to the country’s agrarian roots. The restaurant’s concept centers around the tradition of having an aperitivo hour when people would pause their day and gather with friends and loved ones.

Today, New Yorkers can find six La Pecora Bianca locations scattered across the city. Soon, it seems, another iteration of the chain will be coming to the Upper West Side.

At a recent meeting of Community Board 7’s Business & Consumer Issues Committee, La Pecora Bianca presented their application for a temporary retail permit and a two-year liquor license for 61 W 62nd Street. Owner Mark Barak appeared before the Community Board process. What Now NY was not immediately able to contact Barak for a comment.

During the meeting Barak mentioned that he and his team are in the process of signing a lease. He said that La Pecora Bianca will not be in possession of the space until the beginning of the year, likely in January or February. He is aiming to open in Q4 of 2025.
