D.B. Cooper’s, seemingly named after the infamous alias of the man who hijacked a Boeing 727 in 1971, is planned to take over the space formerly occupied by The Restaurant, at 506 9th Ave, in the Garment District, according to plans filed with the City.

A menu accompanying the paperwork suggests the bar’s concept draws inspiration from the mysterious figure D.B. Cooper, who vanished after parachuting from the hijacked Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 with $200,000 in ransom money, never to be found. While the true identity of D.B. Cooper remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries, the new establishment aims to capture the intrigue and adventure of the tale.

Highlights from the menu could include Warm Pretzel Bites priced at $11, Hot Honey Chicken Tenders for $10.5, a Smashburger at $15.5, and Guinness-Braised Short Ribs for $20. For those looking for lighter options, the Smoked Salmon and Avocado Bowl and the Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Salad are available for $12.5 and $13, respectively.

The drink selection is set to feature beers in a bottle and on draft, along with red and white wines. A standout on the cocktail menu is the Pornstar Martini, a mix of vanilla vodka, passion fruit liqueur, pineapple juice, lime, and prosecco, priced at $14.

Behind the scenes, Ciaran Willis, a seasoned bartender with experience in several New York-area hotspots, will helm D.B. Cooper’s, according to the paperwork, which lists Willis as the owner.
