That’s right, Tony’s Famous Pizza is a brand new pizzeria scheduled to move into the space at 231 First Avenue. Owned and operated by Salvatore Casaccio of Via Roma Pizzeria Inc, this will be the second Tony’s Famous Pizza to open in Manhattan, with the other operating at 128 Second Avenue.

Envisioned as a traditional New York pizzeria, Tony’s will offer up affordable yet quality slices to hungry New Yorkers on the go. Featuring a menu full of classics like buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, zucchini sticks, rice balls, and garlic knots, Tony’s will also sell traditional hero sandwiches, pasta, and baked dishes alongside a selection of immune-boosting “power smoothies” with plenty of fruit options and additional toppings like wheatgrass, spirulina, bee pollen, flax seeds, ginseng, and sunflower seeds. Tony’s will even serve a hearty selection of desserts, offering Ben and Jerry’s ice cream served with fresh-baked chocolate cookies or hot fudge brownies.

Moving into the space at 231 First Avenue, Tony’s Famous Pizza will be replacing Vinny Vincenz, a popular pizzeria that previously occupied the location. Famous for its coveted $1 pizza slices, Vinny Vincenz operated for over 18 years in the neighborhood and became something of an East Village staple thanks to its quick and efficient pizza service. Thankfully, the space is well-equipped as a pizzeria to make the transition into Tony’s Famous Pizza that much easier.

Like most east village pizzerias, Tony’s will be heavily dependent on fast-moving foot traffic rather than focusing on full sit-down service. With enough room for 11 tables, Tony’s will be able to comfortably seat about 22 guests inside at one time. Thankfully, delivery and to-go orders will keep the traffic constantly flowing in and out at a regular pace. Open daily from 11AM – 4AM, Tony’s Famous Pizza will soon become a habitual stop for late-night East Village escapades.
