Oliver Coffee Shop was founded by Chinatown restaurateur Aisa Shelley. The founder the popular Chinatown dive bar Mr. Fong’s, Shelley has been working in hospitality for nearly his entire life, having worked in such recognizable locations as Navy, the Waverly Inn, Rucola, and Freeman’s. As the founder of Blue Operations LLC, Shelley most recently launched Primo’s, a popular Tribeca bar that opened up at The Frederick Hotel in 2018.

Located at 5 Oliver Street, Oliver Cofee is a cozy little cafe nestled at the border of Chinatown and the Civic Center. Serving up humble coffees and snacks for guests on the go, Oliver Coffee also features an international newsstand, where guests can pick up newspapers from across the world to stay updated on current events.

Now, according to a new liquor license filing with the state of New York, it appears that Shelley is planning a massive new expansion for Oliver Coffee that will radically transform its central concept. Shelley and the team have acquired the lease for the entire building at 1-5 Oliver Street, and will be transforming to the space into one central coffee-shop/wine-bar fusion concept.

Operating under the new name All Day Food LLC, the new space will feature both a french wine and light appetizers while preserving the central concept of Oliver Coffee. The space at 1 Oliver Street, which formerly operated as Marinaro Art Gallery, will be transformed into the wine bar, which will feature five two-seat tables as well as a 12-seat standing bar. The bar will serve an eclectic collection of French wines and beer, as well as upscale French snacks like trout rillette, root vegetable gratine, and chicken liver mousse.

Occupying a gorgeous corner building at the intersection of Oliver Street and St. James Place, the space is warm and inviting, and perfect for the upscale concept that Shelley seems to be planning. While the team has a lot of work ahead of them to prepare the new space, you can follow Oliver Coffee for updates along the way.
