The Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC Hotel is a a luxury hotel located at 18 Ninth Avenue between Little West 12th Street and 13th Street. Established in 2004, the Gansevoort was the first luxury hotel to open in New York’s Meatpacking District and quickly became inseparable from the fashionable neighborhood. A Downtown oasis in one of the city’s most vibrant districts, Gansevoort guests enjoy exclusive access to the hotel’s year-round heated pool as well as their popular rooftop bar and lounge. Offering a carefully curated array of dining options, one of California’s premiere hospitality groups will be partnering with the hotel to bring a brand new concept to life later next year.

Maizon is an exciting new concept from owners Tosh Berman and Michael Tanha that will be opening up in the Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC Hotel. Together, the two are known as the founders of Noble 33, a hospitality and lifestyle company with an ever-evolving lineup of unique, social dining restaurants stateside and abroad. The group is best known for establishing elegant, upscale concepts such as Toca Madera, Hotel Figueroa, La Casita, Sparrow, and Casa Madera. Largely based out of the west coast in the past, the group has been steadily expanding their fine-dining empire into cities like Las Vegas, Toronto, London, Miami, and of course New York.

Their latest concept, Maizon, aims to “provide a captivating, immersive, and sensory experience that is shared among friends.” Serving up a thoughtful Mediterranean menu, the new concept promises “elevated coastal design, and a vibrant atmosphere featuring curated music.” Moving into the ground floor of the Gansevoort, Maizon will feature about 8,600 square feet of space.

The ground floor space will feature one circular bar with 21 seats as well an additional 18 tables that will offer a total of 60 seats. Attached to the ground floor space will be Maizon’s enclosed patio, which will offer guests an 11-seat raw bar alongside 45 tables capable of seating up to 128 guests. Finally, Maizon will also feature a private dining room on the Mezzanine, which will provide guests with one six-seat bar and 5 tables cable of seating 22 guests.

Maizon is expected to operate daily from 11:00 AM – 1:00 AM seven days a week, though those hours could change depending upon conditions set by the community board. The space will also feature a retractable roof that will close at 10:00 PM, so guests will be able to enjoy the sun when the weather is nice but still be able to dine when it turns cold. Maizon is still quite a ways away from launching at this point, as the team still has a lot of work to do to establish the space. While you wait, you can sample some of Tosh and Michael’s other fine concepts and follow Gansevoort Meatpacking on Instagram for further updates.
