The Museum of Women is a brand new museum concept from founders Abby Trot and Morgan First. Abby received her masters degree from NYU in Social Entrepreneurship, Social Justice, and Media, and has spent much of her career working in philanthropy and nonprofits. She is dedicated to changing the way we hear, listen, and define women in contemporary society. Morgan First meanwhile, has been working in marketing and event production for over 15 years, and is best known for founding New York’s popup Rosé Mansion.

The Museum of Women is dedicated to empowering women to define what it means to be a woman on their own terms. The museum will be divided in half in order to invite a conversation about the conflicts faced by women in American society. The first area is envisioned as more of a history museum, and will focus on the way that women have been perceived in the world. More specifically, it will closely examine what exactly the external world tries to tell women what to be, while the second area will explore who women really are.

Focused on empowering and uplifting women, the museum’s second area will juxtapose the aesthetic trappings imposed on women by society at large with dynamic celebrations of women’s courage, creativity, and spirit. Together, the two halves of the museum will create a dialogue between the pressures that have been imposed upon women by external forces and the organic feminine spirit that arises in defiance of those forces. Part history museum and part modern-art museum, The Museum of Women will put history directly in conversation with art in a way that will foster healing and growth.

Opening up at 480 Broadway, the new museum will offer an impressive 20,000 square feet of space. Some of the space will be used to hold women’s networking and speaker events, and the space will also feature a café that will serve light fare and a customer bar. Of course, Abby and her team will be featuring an entirely women-owned beverage program for their beer and wine selection.

Once it launches, the museum is expected to operate seven days a week from 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM, every day. The team is currently aiming for a Summer 2022 launch, and while you wait you can follow the museum on Instagram for further updates as Abby and Morgan continue to develop the space.
