Boris & Horton is a dynamic new daytime dog destination that offers New Yorkers a delightful cafe and community space to enjoy with their canine companions. The brand was established by founders Boris, a bandana-clad pit bull terrier mix, and Horton, a snaggle-toothed mystery breed with a penchant for food begging. Additionally, Boris and Horton are aided in their operation (slightly) by co-founders Coppy Holzman and Logan Mikhly. Coppy is the founder of Charitybuzz, the world’s leading charity auction site, and is considered an expert in upscale cause marketing. Logan Mikhly meanwhile managed operations for Used Dogs, a no-kill dog rescue, where she doubled the yearly adoption rates and assisted with community surrender intervention programs.

Together, the four of them established Boris & Horton in 2018 at 195 Avenue A, providing New Yorkers with an amazing cafe and community space to enjoy quality time with the neighborhood dogs. Founded for dog owners and dog lovers alike, Boris & Horton offers guests great coffee, beer, wine, and snacks, and even hosts adoption and fundraising events, assisting countless dogs in finding their forever homes. The space also sells merchandise for dogs and humans alike, allowing fans to show their support with hats, bags, mugs, and specialty doggy treats.

Now, Holzman and Mikhly are getting ready to expand their brand with an exciting new outpost in Williamsburg. The new location, which is Boris & Horton’s first-ever expansion, will be opening up at 510 Driggs Avenue, near the Bedford Avenue L train. The location was once home to Hangry Garden, and offers about 2,600 square feet of space. The new space will feature additional benches for dogs, as well as a designated Instagram booth where patrons can take photos with their fuzzy friends.

Holzman said of the deal that “Williamsburg is the target market”, noting the steady rise of dog ownership among Millennials in the neighborhood, which has increased significantly since the beginning of the pandemic. As with their East Village cafe, Holzman is hoping to acquire a liquor license for the space, and is estimating an opening date in the first quarter of 2023. Additionally, the team is looking to eventually expand with two more locations on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Upper West Side, though those locations are not yet in development. While you wait for the new location, you can follow Boris & Horton on Instagram for regular updates, as well as a plethora of perfect pooch pics.
