Ni Yom is a brand new concept from owner Thanita Atimana. Envisioned as a Thai restaurant, Ni Yom is currently slated to arrive in the East Village at 309 East Fifth Street. The space was formerly home to Jiang Diner, a popular eatery that specialized in northwestern Chinese food served in a casual setting. Jiang Diner closed its doors about a year ago, and the space has sadly remained vacant since.

Now though, the space will once again be coming back to life, serving fresh Thai dishes and cocktails. According to a sample menu provided by Thanita, Ni Yom will offer tasty Thai starters like shrimp cakes, spicy chicken balls, grilled port tacos, and chicken wings, as well as larger entrees like crabmeat curry, honey glazed boiled pork bone ribs, young coconut seafood curry, pork skewers, and a jumbo shrimp pot. Ni Yom will also offer dishes like chicken pandan, chuck rib green curry, and a five spice slow cooked noodle, as well as desserts like young coconut ice cream and sides like stir fry cabbage and lotus chips.

Additionally, Thanita is looking to acquire a liquor license for Ni Yom and intends to serve a plethora of dynamic, Thai-inspired cocktails. Some samples listed on the menu include the Next Stop with turmeric vodka, peach, calpico, and egg white, and the Ready or Not with yuzu, bergamot liqueur, honey, and sparkling sake. Ni Yom will also serve a small selection of beer and wine.

At the moment, Thanita is proposing operating hours of 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM Sunday through Thursday, and 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM on Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, Thanita and the team are still too early into development to share any social media accounts for Ni Yom, so you will just need to keep your eyes on the space for future signage.
