After a fantastic 15-year run, Morimoto, a luxe Japanese restaurant with “Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto at the helm, closed early last year. Taking its place at 88 10th Avenue will be an undisclosed Asian restaurant backed in part by Steven Haigh, co-founder of Scotch and Bacon Hospitality Group. While the hospitality group has a multitude of experience opening restaurants, this will be their first foray in New York. They have other restaurants in Mexico City, Toronto, Montreal, and Miami, just to name a few.

Just steps away from the bustling Chelsea Market, this tasteful two-story building features everything from a unique glass wall to chic seating to ample bar space. The proposed menu showcases an array of Asian-influence snacks and sides, like Miso-Butter Garlic Knots, Asparagus with Yuzu Custard, and Coconut Sticky Rice, as well as a host of seafood options in varying preparations.

While the name of the restaurant is still to be announced, for now, it’s operating under “SE Dough LLC,” according to a pending liquor license application and sidewalk café stipulations application that was filed in a few weeks prior. Steven has not commented at this time about an open date or restaurant name, but the post will be updated should he respond.
