Bings and Noodles is a brand new Chinese restaurant from Huizi Yu. Described as “a family restaurant that will focus on Asian cuisine,” Bings and Noodles will highlight cuisine from Northern China, particularly (surprise!) bings and noodles. If you don’t already know, a bing is a flour-based Chinese staple that resembles something between a flatbread and a pancake. Comparable to the Indian roti and the French crepes, bings can be found in all types of different flavors and styles. Thick or thin, spicy or savory, bings are an important part of Chinese cuisine and can be incorporated into a wide variety of different dishes.

Open daily from 7AM to 11PM, Bings and Noodles is poised to become a critical late-night snack spot for hungry students in the park. At only 500 square feet of space, Yu’s new restaurant will remain a cozy and intimate experience – typical for the neighborhood. While Yu is applying for a beer and wine license to accompany the food, drinking will not be the primary focus of the establishment, which will not play music beyond the acceptable level for background noise.

Moving into 240 Sullivan Street, Bings and Noodles will be replacing the original location of Peanut Butter and Co, the popular franchise that twists peanut butter sandwiches into fabulous new creations. While it was sad to see the location go, the brand has since expanded well beyond its humble origin on Sullivan Street and has opened a few different locations across the city. Your own humble author may have been known to stumble into Peanut Butter and Co during his youthful college days, but it appears now that those days – like Peanut Butter and Co – are long gone. Keep an eye out for further signs of Bings and Noodles, which is expected to open sometime in 2022.
