Founded in 1967 as Irish pub Flynn’s Inn, the restaurant changed hands a number of times before becoming Old Stove Pub in 1969. Serving up authentic Greek cuisine and wine curated by Coula Johnides, Old Stove Pub earned an impressive reputation as a steakhouse and quickly became one of the neighborhood’s most important restaurants.

Current owner Joseph DeCristofaro grew up in the neighborhood well aware of its sterling reputation. The popular haunt of Long Island locals, Joseph often spotted celebrates at the pub like Billy Joel, Andy Warhol, JFK Jr, and Ralph Lauren. Joseph’s favorite item on the menu was the steak, and that still hasn’t changed even after all these years.

When Joseph took over the restaurant in 2020, it had fallen into a bad shape after a two-year closure. He quickly put a team together to revitalize the iconic spot, and before long it was back to its old self again, once again becoming the regular haunt of celebrities like Jimmy Fallon. Now that Old Stove Pub is back on its feet, Joseph is turning his attention to a new neighborhood – Midtown Manhattan.

That’s right, the iconic Long Island eatery is finally expanding with its very first satellite location. Expected to move into the space at 1076 First Avenue, Old Stove Pub will be replacing Four Cuts Steakhouse, a luxurious steakhouse from Chef Joaquin Linares that sadly closed during the pandemic. While Joseph and his team still have a lot of work ahead of them to finish the space, the quality of Old Stove Pub’s steaks will certainly be enough to rival Four Cuts.
