An exciting new restaurant concept is currently scheduled to open up in midtown later this year.
Wan Waan is a brand new restaurant from Christopher Vega-Ramirez. A first time restaurant owner, Christian envisions his new concept as a Thai restaurant. The name Wan Waan refers to days long ago that are remembered through memories and stories. Wan Waan emphasizes feeling through the taste of food, and believes that by stimulating positive emotions through delicious cuisine, they will bring guests nostalgic memories of the past.
Moving into the space at 200 Eighth Avenue, Wan Waan will be replacing Charm’s, another popular Thai restaurant that has been successfully occupying the space for years. The space is already well-outfitted to meet Christopher’s needs, and features a max capacity of 74 guests. Currently in the process of applying for a full liquor license, Wan Waan is expected to operate from 11:30 AM – 10:30 PM on Monday through Thursday, 11:30 AM – 11:00 PM on Friday, and then 12:30 PM – 11:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant will also feature bottled wine service.
For lunch, Wan Waan will feature Thai staples like Red and Panang Curry, as well as Pad Thai and Thai Fried Rice. Wan Waan will serve larger entrees for dinner, like Khao Mok Gai, Kua Gling, and Honey Duck Basil, among many other mouthwatering options. Wan Waan will also serve an eclectic array of soups, small plates, and noodles, so guests will be able to try out a plethora of different Thai dishes during their stay. Christopher is scheduled to hear back from the community board later today about his liquor license application, so some of this information is subject to change should the board add any stipulations. Once he is approved for the license though, he can continue moving forward with Wan Waan.
