Il Fiorista was founded in 2019 by Italian couple Alessandra and Mario De Benedetti. Sharing an equal passion for both flowers and food, Alessandra and Mario set out to create an inventive new restaurant concept that combines the beauty, and environmental and health benefits of flowers and herbs with delicious culinary creations.

A combination flower shop and restaurant, Il Fiorista shares its passion for all things beautiful. Inspired by the many botanical gardens of Europe, Alessandra and Mario are careful to incorporate all of their flowers into the food they serve for either flavor, texture, or garnish. Described by Michelin as “Deliciously unique”, the recipes crafted by Executive Chef Rae Kramer are served with edible flowers like nasturtium blossoms and hibiscus petals and plated with extraordinary precision.

Now, it appears that marc and Alessandra will be opening a brand new location at 641 Hudson Street. Formerly the home of Günter Seeger NY, the New York branch of the eponymous chef’s Michelin-Starred enterprise, the restaurant opened up in 2016 to tremendous acclaim but sadly closed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Featuring an impressive 3,650 square feet of space, the new Il Fiorista is expected to serve up bold and colorful dishes like Berber Tea Sasso Chicken and Graffiti Eggplant, naturally served alongside exotic edible flowers. The new restaurant will even feature an exclusive Chef’s Table experience in the back, where patrons can enjoy a private tasting menu designed in accordance with available seasonal ingredients.
