Restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff is one of the most recognizable names in the hospitality industry today. Based primarily out of Chicago, his Hogsalt hospitality company has been behind some of New York and Chicago’s most prestigious new restaurants. In Chicago, Brendan and the Hogsalt team were responsible for iconic restaurants like Armitage Alehouse, Aster Hall, Au Cheval, Doughnut Vault, Gilt Bar, and Trivoli Tavern. Most recently, Sodikoff brought Au Cheval eastwards to New York and developed the popular 4 Charles Prime Rib restaurant.
Now, the Chicago restaurateur is continuing his eastward expansion with a brand new, exclusively New York concept. The new restaurant, whose title is still pending, is envisioned as a “welcoming neighborhood Italian restaurant, where the community can gather in a relaxing environment.” The restaurant will be opening up at 239 West 10th Street, replacing Fedora, which previously occupied the space. Fedora was a decades-old West Village institution from restaurateur Gabriel Stulman, which closed in October 2020 after nearly 50 years of successful operation.
The landmark space is an impressive acquisition for Sodikoff, and the location boasts a total of 1,000 square feet on the ground floor and 600 square feet in the basement. In total, the restaurant is expected to comfortably seat 54 guests. The Hogsalt team is currently acquiring a full liquor license for the restaurant, and is prosing operating hours of 9:00 AM – 2:00 AM daily, seven days a week. While the project is still in its infancy (and hasn’t even been officially named yet), you can follow Hogsalt on Instagram for future updates on all of their upcoming projects.
