The location, which will be the fourth for the brand, will fill a 6,300-square-foot space. Founder Tamara Chubinidze opened the first Chama Mama location in Chelsea in 2019. Now, there are two additional locations open on the Upper West Side and in Brooklyn Heights.
The restaurant serves Georgian cuisine inspired by the history of the region.
“Situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Georgia has fallen within the Silk Road orbit of many cultural influences where the foreign ingredients and styles were incorporated into their own,” the Chama Mama website states. “That is why the Georgian cuisine is unique with its rich, extensive interplay of a wide array of tastes.”
Chama Mama serves a Georgian-inspired beverage program with cocktails like Georgia 1991 and Golden Fleece. They also serve wine flights and mocktails.
Dinner menu items include Adjaruli khachapuri, lobiani, chicken kebabs and Georgian mountain bread. The restaurant also offers a range of pkhali options.
The Bushwick location is expected to open in late summer 2025, according to the Business Journal.
“The response to all three of our locations has been wonderful,” Chubinidze told the Business Journal. “We’re happy to share that all three restaurants are regularly filled to capacity, and we’ve developed lasting relationships with the local communities. Our goal with Chama Mama is to share our love for food and Georgia’s culture with everyone, and we’re excited to extend that experience to Bushwick’s vibrant community.”
