An exciting new restaurant is opening up in the West Village. It’s called Libertine and is expected to open up at 143 Christopher Street, replacing the long-standing Gaetana’s.
Libertine is the latest project from hospitality and beverage professional Cody Pruitt. As the General Manager and Beverage Director of Anfora NYC, the popular wine bar that specializes in Biodynamic and Natural wines, Cody has developed an extensive knowledge base throughout his career and is ready to leverage that knowledge to open his very own restaurant.
Styled as an all-day French Bistro, Libertine will transform its menu regularly according to the time of day. In the mornings they will offer café service for to-go or to-stay orders as well as a full breakfast on weekdays and brunch on weekends. In the afternoon, they’ll offer to-go and to-stay full lunch service. Then in the evening, they will serve a full dinner menu centered around traditional seasonal French cuisine, alongside natural French wine and classical French cocktails.
Cody’s long history in the beverage industry makes him well-positioned to lead Libertine to excellence. With his extensive knowledge of wines and cocktails, Cody has everything he needs to transform Libertine into one of New York’s best bistros. Fortunately for Cody, the charm of the new building will match the scale of his vision.
Replacing the popular Gaetana’s restaurant on the corner of Christopher and Greenwich Street, Libertine will occupy a beautiful corner building in the heart of the West Village. The building itself is almost as old as the neighborhood, and may even date back to before the Prohibition era. Featuring 2,712 square feet of space, Libertine will be a spacious new addition to the neighborhood and will also feature a humble sidewalk café on Christopher Street. Look forward to Libertine arriving on Greenwich Street by next Spring.
