Happy New Years, New York! I’m sure we all celebrated very responsibly and now it’s time to get the new year rolling once again. If your New Years Resolution was “Find the best new restaurants coming to New York City this year,” then you’re in luck! As a complete coincidence, our What Now New York New Years Resolution is “Find the best new restaurants coming to New York this year and inform our beloved readers.” How serendipitous!
The first new restaurant to announce this year is an exciting new concept from veteran chef Joshua Pinsky and wine expert Chase Sinzer. It’s called Claud’s and will be replacing Ikinari Steakhouse at 90 East 10th Street.
As the former Executive Chef at Momofuku, Josh is bringing with him decades of experience of working with some of the best culinary minds of his generation. Currently working as a private chef for independent clients, Claud’s represents a significant step for Josh as he transitions from expert chef to restaurant owner.
His co-owner meanwhile is one of the foremost wine experts in New York. As the former Wine Director of Brooklyn Fare’s legendary Chefs Table, Chase presided over the wine selection at one of New York’s five three-Michelin-starred restaurants. Together, Chase and Josh have the collective experience and potential to turn Claud’s into New York’s next must-visit restaurant.
Moving into the space at 90 East 10th Street, Claud’s will be replacing Ikinari Steakhouse, a popular Japanese chain that served high-quality steaks in a speedy, standing-room only environment. As part of the Pepper Lunch family of restaurants, Ikinari operated 18 chains across New York but sadly closed all of them as the Covid-19 pandemic continued to ravage the city. With enough space to comfortably sit 61 guests, Claud’s is expected to be a warm and inviting upscale restaurant. While a scant amount of information has been revealed about the menu, its safe to say that with a team like Chase and Josh at the helm, Claud’s is guaranteed to be something special.
