If there’s one thing you can say about New Yorkers, we’re tenacious, and we don’t know the meaning of “can’t.” While the untrained eye might scan the skyline of Manhattan and deduce that it was a city completely inhospitable to golf, savvy New Yorkers know that isn’t quite the case here. Thanks to the innovations of Five Iron Golf, New York is now ready to take yet another experience from the suburbs.

Five Iron Golf was founded in Manhattan as a solution for the city’s many avid players who were in need of a local spot to meet with friends and perfect their swing. The brand was first established in 2017 in the Flatiron District, and the “five” in its name is actually derived from its original home on Fifth Avenue. Since launching in 2017, Five Iron Golf has seen a massive expansion and has quickly become one of the nation’s leading golf entertainment experiences, with over 20 unique locations across the country to date.

Like the diverse city in which it originated, Five Iron Golf is all about bringing everyone together for a shared experience under one roof. For the amateurs like me, Five Iron Golf features a full service bar with locally crafted food menu items and alternative table games like ping pong and shuffleboard, as well as wide screen TV’s to watch all your favorite sports. For the serious golfers though, Five Iron Golf hosts high-tech Trackman simulators to master your swing, club storage and showers, professional leagues, access to teaching professionals, as well as an in-house club fitting service and free access to top-of-the-line clubs.

In April of this year, What Now New York broke the news that Five Iron Golf would be coming to the Upper East Side next year, and now we can report yet another expansion for the brand. Five Iron Golf’s latest expansion will be opening up at 101 Park Avenue, at the corner of 40th Street and Park Avenue, where they have secured a 30,000 square foot lease at the Kalikow Building. Expected to open in the Fall of 2023, the new location will feature a full restaurant and bar and the same fine amenities that fans have come to expect. While their Upper East Side location has still yet to open to the public, you can follow Five Iron Golf on Instagram for information on all of their developments across the country.
