Emmy Squared Pizza is one of the most popular new chains of pizza restaurants to hit New York. Established in 2016, Emmy Squared is part of the Pizza Loves Emily family of restaurants and was founded by owners Emily Hyland and Executive Chef Matthew Hyland, alongside partners Howard Greenstone and Ken Levitan. Contrary to traditional New York style pizza, Emmy Squared focuses on Detroit style pizza, which is marked by its square shape and crispy yet chewy crust.

Last Week, What Now NY previously covered the chain’s intention to expand into Hells Kitchen, but now new intel has emerged about plans for a brand new location in Midtown East. The latest Emmy Squared Pizza will be arriving at 1065 1st Avenue, on the corner of First Avenue and East 58th Street. The restaurant will be replacing Fusha Asian Cuisine, a popular Asian fusion restaurant that closed down earlier this year. Occupying a beautiful corner building on First Avenue, the location is relatively spacious and is planned to seat 136 guests with sit-down service as well as take-out and delivery. Additionally, there is a plan to develop an outdoor sidewalk cafe, adhering to the necessary eight-foot clearing space.

Contrary to the name, Emmy Squared offers much more than pizza. The restaurant offers an assortment of different options like burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. Emmy Squared also offers a popular build-your-own pizza option, enabling guests to customize their preferred crust, sauce, and toppings. Additionally, the new location will feature a robust beer, wine, and spirit selection, and will serve specialty cocktails like the Dutton Ranch, Redlight/Green Light, and the And Just Like That.

To make this happen, the owners are in the process of acquiring a full on-premises liquor license for the new restaurant. The team is currently proposing operating hours of 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM on Sunday through Thursday, and 11:00 AM 12:00 AM on Friday and Saturday. Most recently, Emmy Squared Pizza debuted a brand new pizza from Celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson called the Streetbird Pie, featuring Calabrian chili, crispy chicken, pecorino cheese and Chef Marcus’s signature Streetbird Honey.
