A swanky new wine bar is currently getting ready to open up in Lower Manhattan sometime next year.
Cellar 36 is a new wine bar concept that is currently set to arrive in Manhattan’s Two Bridges neighborhood sometime next year. The concept is a new project from owner Nodar Toronjadze and is envisioned as a small plates restaurant that will offer wine, cheese, and charcuterie plates for pairing.
Cellar 36 is currently expected to open up at 36 Market Street, between Henry Street and Madison Street. The space was formerly home to 36 Market Grocery Store, which was operated by Yong Hui Food Inc. The locations is estimated to be able to seat about 22 guests inside, and will also feature a 16-foot front bar that will seat an additional 8 guests, as well as a counter in the back that will offer an additional 4 seats. Based on a sample floor plan, the two bars will line the left side of the restaurant, while the tables will occupy the right side, leaving a wide space in the middle for easy navigation.
Nodar has also attached a sample menu to his liquor license application, and it reveals that Cellar 36 will be primarily serving small plates and snacks. Guests will be able to enjoy a robust selection of natural wines, beer, and cider, as well as light snacks like marinated olives and mixed nuts, as well as small dishes like burrata, anchovies, sardines, tuna and steak tartare, as well as meats like chorizo and jamon serrano, and various selections of cow, goat, and sheep cheeses.
Nodar is now gearing up to propose his new concept to the community board, and is currently planning on operating from 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM every night, seven days week. He is also hoping to host a happy hour from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, though these hours are subject to change pending the board’s approval. Unfortunately, Cellar 36 is still too early into development to have its own social media profile, so you will just have to keep your eyes on the space until further details are announced.
