Good news fellow gamers, one of the East Village’s most popular gaming cafes is currently getting ready to seriously level up its services.
Waypoint Cafe is a popular gaming and Esports café from owner Luigino Gigante. Located at 65 Ludlow Street, Waypoint Cafe provides guests with everything they need to play their favorite competitive PC games in a fun and friendly environment. The café offers 30 PCs equipped with Roccat peripherals as well as stream room with 144 Hz monitors, so friends can gather together in big groups to play some of their favorite games together.
Waypoint Cafe operates on a platform called ggLeap, which allows guests to create their own custom accounts on the PCs, enabling them to track their progress and statistics across play sessions. The cafe currently offers dozens of some of the most popular games online at the moment, including Apex Legends, Call of Duty, WoW, Counter Strike, Final Fantasy 14, Diablo, Halo, Left For Dead, Street Fighter, and Overwatch. Rates run about five dollars per session hour, offering bonus hours as a reward for reserving many hours at once.
In addition to the state-of-the-art PC gaming room, Waypoint Cafe also naturally offers a selection of light meals and snacks to help guests fuel their gaming sessions. At the moment the cafe serves coffee, pastries, breakfast bagels, and sandwiches, but Gigante is currently planning on seriously upgrading the cafe’s menu. Gigante is currently meeting with the community board to apply for a new beer and wine license for Waypoint Cafe. If approved, the change will see guests enjoying beer, wine, and cider as they play through Waypoint’s impressive array of games.
The license change will also see the cafe expanding its operating hours. Previously open daily from 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM, Gigante is proposing new hours of 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM Sunday through Thursday, and 8:00 AM – 1:00 AM on Friday and Saturday. The space is available to reserve for private events, and this new license acquisition might be exactly what you and your group need to take your party to the next level.
