Coffee! I’m talking about coffee, obviously! You know I would never write under the influence (and believe me, you’d be able to tell if I did), but I do have a crippling coffee addiction that must be met constantly if I’m to feel conscious and alive. Thankfully, the kind people at Day Drinks have everything that people like me need to get through the day.

Founded by Steve Mierisch and Ramin Narimani, Day Drinks is a bar and tasting room for nonalcoholic specialties like coffee and tea. Essentially a daytime bar for caffeinated beverages, Day Drinks combines the experience of a café with the social and communal elements of visiting bars with friends. Founders Steve and Ramin wanted to create a relaxing environment where friends can socialize in the daytime without becoming too intoxicated to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Opening up in the Chelsea Market at 425 West 15th Street, Day Drinks roasts, brews, and carbonates everything on-premise, minimizing their carbon footprint to nearly zero. By producing everything on site, Day Drinks gives creative control to the bartender and turns traditional selection experience into a unique guided experience lead by an industry professional.

Of course, nothing is static in this city. While Day Drinks’ on-tap espresso sodas and carbonated teas have proven to be incredibly popular, the Day Drinks team is currently considering the possibility of adding night drinks to the menu. While Day Drinks has been open for a while on a soft basis from 11AM4PM, Monday through Friday, Steve Mierisch is currently meeting with the SLA application committee to propose new hours and acquire a new beer and wine license. Steve is proposing new operating hours of 11AM – 12AM, seven days a week. The new change would see Day Drinks operating on weekends and late nights, serving a new selection of beer and wine alongside their caffeinated classics.

In addition to the beer, wine, and late hours, Day Drinks is also looking to serve food to pair with its new drink options. Focusing on canned seafood known as conservas, Day Drinks is expected to offer light delicacies like sardines with curry and chili, octopus in olive oil, and habanero smoked oysters. Pairing well with coffee, tea, beer, and wine alike, Day Drink’s new food options will help enhance its identity as a tasting room. While further information can’t be shared until Steve hears back from the SLA committee, you can follow Day Drinks on Instagram to follow every step of their progress.
