According to reporting by Traded NY, Chipotle’s lease for the space covers 2,700 square feet.
A representative for Chipotle confirmed the brand’s plans for this Crown Heights location over an email correspondence with What Now NY.
“We are always looking for communities where we can serve responsibly sourced, classically-cooked, real food and establish new local partnerships, and the Crown Heights area is a great fit,” the representative said. “We’re pleased with the response to our existing locations in Brooklyn, and hope the community enjoys our upcoming Crown Heights restaurant.”
Chipotle will be just one of the tenants to occupy 1730 Bedford Ave once construction wraps. Last year YIMBY reported on a loan secured by Seventh Street Development Group to finish construction of the new building. The building will be seven stories tall and have 33,000 square feet of available retail and commercial space. There will be 200 parking spaces within the building as well.
Per the latest press release from Chipotle, the chain has almost 3,500 Chipotle restaurants in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Kuwait. Chipotle announced earlier this year that they are aiming to operate 7,000 restaurants in North America in the long-term.
Chipotle has been expanding in New York City over the past few years, including opening a new location in Greenpoint. In Brooklyn alone, there are 22 locations, all of which are corporate-owned and operated.
Based on current projections, the newest Chipotle in Crown Heights will open in 2025.
