It currently has 18 storefronts across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and New Jersey, but it expects to have 35 open across multiple states—including Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts and Florida—by the end of the year, he says. The new city locations will be at 50 East 96th Street in Carnegie Hill, 359 East 19th Street in StuyTown and Bay Plaza at 200 Baychester Avenue in the Bronx. It just opened its most recent location on 325 Greenwich Street in Tribeca March 17, as previously reported by What Now New York. By the end of the year there will be 16 stores throughout New York City.

These expansions have been possible in part thanks to a $10 million donation it received last year from Enlightened Hospitality Investment, a group that was co-founded by Shake Shack Founder Danny Meyer.

Chip City was founded by Phillips and childhood friend Theodore Galias with its flagship store opening in Astoria, Queens, in 2017. It is known for its variety of signature stuffed cookies. It also offers nationwide shipping, catering and local delivery.

It has over a dozen flavors, including its noteworthy weekly cookie rotation. The cookie flavors range from its Chocolate Peanut Butter, a fudge cookie mixed with creamy peanut butter chips; S’mores, a graham cracker cookie mixed with dark chocolate chips topped with marshmallow; Nutella Sea Salt, a brown sugar cookie mixed with toasted hazelnuts filled with Nutella; Blueberry Cheesecake, a sugar cookie mixed with dried blueberries and white chocolate clips filled with sweet cream cheese icing; Horchata, a sugar cookie made with rice milk and coconut oil filled with a rice milk and horchata filling rolled in cinnamon sugar; Lemon Berry, a lemon shortbread cookie filled with red berry jam topped with powdered sugar; and more.

Phillips says they haven’t found any franchisees yet, but the business is looking for franchise partners for future stores. Its website says the initial investment is approximately $350,000 with average annual sales around $850,000-$900,000.
